Time is always moving forward, but sometimes it is good to pause and reflect on the past so that we can move ahead with renewed vision and strength. As Psalm 90:12 reminds us: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
On July 1, 2026, Trumpeter Ministries reached an important milestone—our fifth anniversary. The journey has gone far beyond anything I could have imagined. I never dreamed of starting an organization, nor did I ever plan to build a ministry. Everything began with a reluctant yet obedient response to God’s calling upon my heart.
That calling began with a holy dissatisfaction: Why are so many of the next generation leaving the church? Why has the church lost its influence on the culture? Over time, that dissatisfaction grew into a holy ambition—to seek God’s answer and become part of His solution.
God planted the seed of Trumpeter Ministries through my years of serving in the English ministries of Chinese churches and through my own family. Step by step, He led me to leave my career as a computer engineer and enter The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) for theological training.
Before entering seminary in 2007, God spoke to me through Ezekiel 33, where the watchman is commanded to sound the trumpet to warn the people, and through Jeremiah 1, where God says, “Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you.”
In response, I wrote down God’s calling for my life:
To teach a biblical worldview, strengthen families, and promote homeschooling.
The journey was not easy. At the time, our four children ranged in age from three to fourteen, and we were enjoying what many would consider a comfortable Christian life.Yet, just as God called Abraham and Moses to leave their comfort zones before using them, He called our family to do the same.
The transition was difficult, but through every step God faithfully sustained us with His grace and provision.
Then, in His marvelous providence, God used COVID-19 to start Trumpeter Ministries. While the world was locked down, God opened an extraordinary door online.
Looking back, however, the vision was actually revived prior to that —at the Chinese Mission Convention (CMC) in Baltimore in December 2019. It was there that God rekindled the fire in my heart. As a result, we launched the Trumpeter Ministries YouTube channel in March 2020, just one week before the nationwide COVID shutdown.
Throughout the pandemic, we never stopped our work. We continually offered online biblical worldview training, workshops, and daily devotions.
Starting an organization had never been part of my own plan. Yet God closed all other doors, and He deepened my desire to obey His calling.
Finally, on July 1, 2021, Trumpeter Ministries was officially established. In reality, I was simply giving my full attention and wholehearted commitment to what God had already been leading me to do for more than a year.
Responding to God’s calling, however, does not guarantee a smooth road. I first learned that lesson in seminary, but this time my greatest challenge came through my physical health.
Between March and June of 2022, I was admitted to the emergency room seven times and spent a total of seventeen days in the hospital. It was one of the most difficult seasons of my faith.
Yet it was there, lying in a hospital bed, that God revealed to me the vision of “Yugong Moves the Mountain”.
God impressed one truth deeply upon my heart:
It was not Yugong who moved the mountain. It was God who moved the mountain.
Praise the Lord!
He not only restored my physical health but also renewed my soul.
Since then, God has miraculously opened many doors for ministry. We have had the privilege of sharing the message of “Saving the Next Generation” throughout the United States, Canada, Taiwan, and even Australia. He has also enabled us to publish two biblical worldview curricula to equip churches and Christian families.
Yet I have not felt there is much reason to celebrate.
Everywhere I travel, I encounter the same heartbreaking stories. Parents are weeping over sons and daughters who grew up in the church but who have since walked away from the faith and embraced an entirely different worldview.
Even more heartbreaking is that many churches and Christian organizations have chosen either to walk around “the mountain”—or to even embrace it.
At the same time, however, I have also seen what Scripture describes as “a cloud as small as a man’s hand” (1 Kings 18:44)—a sign that God is preparing to send rain.
Everywhere I go, I meet believers who are willing to stand up and to join this spiritual battle.
People often ask me,“How many coworkers does Trumpeter Ministries have?”
My answer is simple: Many—and they are spread all over the world.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the Trumpeters who have walked alongside us during these past five years. I am also deeply thankful to the many churches that have invited us to share this vision and have supported this ministry.
I am especially grateful for my wife. Although she naturally enjoys being at home, she has willingly traveled with me, organized countless ministry trips, encouraged me during my weakest moments, and faithfully served as my closest ministry partner.
I am equally thankful for our four children. Through them, God has taught me priceless lessons—both through my successes and my failures as a father—and has continually strengthened my conviction that Saving the Next Generation is a mission worth giving our lives for.
I am humbled that, by God’s grace, He has allowed me to serve as a Trumpeter:
To give a warning,
To call people to action,
To give a battle signal,
To give a sound of celebration.
To God alone be all the glory!
Psalm 65:11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.
