25 Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, 26 for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.

Proverbs 3:25-26

There has been no greater time for me to give thanks than at this year’s Thanksgiving holiday. As many of you might know, I was in and out of the hospital seven times this past year, even coming close to my last breath. But God led me out of every “sudden terror” and each time saved my life – because He still has work for me to do on this earth.

The purpose of our lives is not just to be healthy and to live a long life, but it is to do His will while we are alive on this earth. “For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.” (Romans 14:6) On this Thanksgiving Day, let us remember also to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. ” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) At a recent checkup on October 25, my urologist said to me, “You no longer need to see me anymore!” I think there is no greater news a patient can hear than that the doctor does not want to see him/her anymore! But when God keeps us alive, then that means there is still important work for us to do. May we not only be thankful for what God has given us and done for us, but let us also live for God, so that our lives will be like the Sea of Galilee (having an inlet and outlet) instead of the Dead Sea (having no outlet).

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
