Jeremiah was not forced to speak for God. He himself heard “the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.” He saw the coming destruction and therefore could not keep silent because he “writhe[d] in pain.” Our words speak for our hearts, but our hearts can only be stirred by God’s words. Do we see the paths our children are walking? the books they are reading, the games they are playing, the music they are listening to, the clothes they are wearing, the words they are speaking? Mainly, do we see the gods they are worshipping? For too long the churches have been silent and have kept “business as usual”. But God says, “How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me and have sworn by those who are no gods.” (Jeremiah 5:7)
Maybe it is because we parents are busy pursuing our “America Dream” and the churches are pursing the dream of “growth”. May God enable us to hear the sound of the trumpet and stir up our hearts to “beat wildly” so we CANNOT KEEP SILENT. Together let us sound the trumpet and save our children!
