1 Peter 2:But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

To fit in and be accepted is an invisible force pressing upon many of us, especially our young generation. To see that everyone has the latest iphone, wears the latest fashion is a great pressure on our youth. One person cannot fight a nation. The world wants to conform everyone to its likeness; we see that in our next generation. But as Christians we are different! Apostle Peter reminds us that we are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession” – this is our identity. Only when we truly know and embrace our identity can we “proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” It is time for the Church to stop being like the world and to stop striving to be liked by the world, and instead to be different for Christ’s sake. Do we dare to be different?
