For Whom Are We Waiting?

Isaiah 40:30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

As COVID-19 continues to show its strength all over the world, are we getting tired of waiting? Many of our plans and projects have been postponed or canceled. Today’s passage, “Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted…” vividly describes how we might feel in the current situation. But in verse 31, Isaiah gives hope for those “who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.” We are not waiting for COVID-19 to disappear but we are waiting for the Lord to give us power and strength (v. 29) so we can “run and not be weary… walk and not faint.” even in the midst of this pandemic. And not only that; we will “mount up with wings like eagles”! So who are we waiting for? The answer to this question will change our perspective during this time. We don’t need to wait for COVID-19  to be over in order for our lives to be back to “normal”. As we wait for the Lord, we can renew our strength and fly like eagles TODAY!
