26 but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 10:26-28

這是我們基督徒的呼召:按照神的話在世上生活 to live under the Word in the World

Jesus describes to us three characteristics of His sheep: they hear His voice, He knows them, and they follow Him. First of all, we must recognize that there will be many different voices calling out to us every day, vying to get our attention; do we hear the voice of Jesus? Just as there are many radio frequencies out of which we select a particular one to listen to, we need to INTENTIONALLY be tuned to God’s station in order to hear His voice. God speaks to us through His words, so we are to read His words. Second, the Lord’s sheep are known by God. Our faith involves a relationship with God; it is not just a religion which we practice. The third is the most important: we must follow God and live out our faith. John Stott said “…this is our Christian calling: to live under the Word in the World.

Let us be reminded every day of whose sheep we are. If we are the Lord’s sheep, let us hear His voice and follow Him.  Jesus is our Good Shepherd and “we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” (Psalm 100:3)

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to hear Your voice every day and to follow You only, because we are Your sheep. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
