Acts 5:27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest questioned them, 28 saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.” 29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.

When Peter and Apostles were asked to stop preaching in the name of Jesus, they answered, “We must obey God rather than men. ” Today we are facing great obstacles, because not only the government but also the media and schools oppose the church on many moral issues. May the church learn from Peter and the apostles to declare to the world, “We must obey God rather than men.” As English theologian and literary scholar Harry Blamires stated, we need to see the rise of a kind of Christian thinker who “challenges current prejudices … disturbs the complacent … obstructs the busy pragmatists … questions the very foundations of all about him, and … is a nuisance”.

May the church rise up at such a time like this to “speak God’s word with all boldness” (Acts 4:29) even “counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.” (Acts 5:41-42)
