Exodus 28:And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty. You shall speak to all the skillful, whom I have filled with a spirit of skill, that they make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him for my priesthood.

When God laid out the details for the building of the Tabernacle and for the making of the priests’ garments, He specified that these tasks were to be undertaken by the Israelites “for glory and for beauty.” God then filled the workers “with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship to devise artistic designs.” (21:3-4) The idea of beauty has been lost in our Christian mind. We usually view God as almighty and loving but not so often as the God of beauty. “Our task is not to protest the world into a certain moral conformity, but to attract the world to the saving beauty of Christ.” (Brian Zhand) May God help us not only to do our tasks well but also to do them beautifully, because beauty can bypass the blinded mind; beauty can go directly into the heart and then on… to transform the mind!
