十字架是保羅的中心信息：“因為我曾定了主意，在你們中間不知道別的，只知道耶穌基督並他釘十字架。” （林前2：2）世界的智慧鄙視十字架，這十字架是上帝的智慧。 不幸的是，我們的孩子在大多數學校學習的東西充滿了世界的智慧 – 進化論取代了神創論，人類自主取代了對上帝的敬畏，性別選擇取代了上帝的設計 …。 即使是身為父母的，為了使孩子成為世界的精英也經常用體育活動取代主日崇拜, 課外補習和SAT備考來取代讀經靈修……難怪世界和我們的許多孩子都認為十字架是愚拙的。 “但是， 神揀選了世上愚拙的，為了使有智慧的羞愧；又揀選了世上軟弱的，為了使強壯的羞愧。”（1:27）因此，讓我們訓練我們的孩子成為上帝的“精英”而不是世界的精英 ！
The cross is the central message of Paul: “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” (1 Cor. 2:2) The wisdom of this world despises the cross which is the wisdom of God. Unfortunately, what our children learn in most schools is full of the wisdom of the world; evolution has replaced creationism, human autonomy has replaced the fear of the Lord, gender choice has replaced God’s design. Even we parents have often replaced church with sports and Bible devotions with tutoring sessions and SAT prep… no wonder the world and many of our children think the cross is folly. “But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; ” (1:27) So let us train our children to be “God’s elite” not the world’s elite!
