Acts 5:39 but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice, 40 and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. 42 And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.
Yes, we are still waiting for the final results of the election. As Christians we can be assured that “if it is of God, [no one] will be able to overthrow them.” Job 42:2 also reminds us “that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” The members of the early church faced persecution intending to silence them, but they resolved to “obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29) and “rejoic[ed] that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.” They “did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.” The real “swing” state is our next generation. Unless the churches and parents pour all resources and efforts into educating our children towards God, we have no reason to expect a godly government in the future. So let us teach our children and preach the Gospel to them every day at home, in our churches, and in the schools our children attend!
