Which Highway Are You Walking On?

Isaiah 35:8 And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it.  It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray. No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there. 10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

The highway is a major theme of the book of Isaiah. In the ancient times, highways were very important for trading and for conquests. Isaiah points us us to a new highway, the Way of Holiness. This highway is not for everyone; it is only for the redeemed. It does not go to a city of men but to the City of God. It is for “the ransomed of the Lord” to return to Zion. On this highway you won’t hear the honking of cars but the joyful sounds of singing. For those who walk upon this highway, “everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” What a beautiful picture Isaiah paints for us! Have you found this highway? Jesus said, ““I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) Only through Jesus we can be on the Way of Holiness. Let us go together, hand in hand, singing and marching on the Way of Holiness to Zion!
