Psalm
Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
What is true happiness? The Declaration of Independence lists “the pursuit of Happiness” as one of the “unalienable Rights” endowed to us by our Creator. But how should we pursue happiness, and where will we find it? Psalm 1 gives us a clear road map and the way to obtain it: it will be found by delighting in the law of the Lord and by meditating on it day and night. True happiness is long-lasting, “like a tree planted by streams of water” and not “like chaff that the wind drives away.” True happiness comes from within, just like a tree yields its fruit which develops from the inside out and not from the outside “protective coloration” in (“You Are Not Really Happy” – Mayday) . Most importantly, true happiness bring us to a close and intimate relationship (the Hebrew meaning of “know”) with God. May we pursue true happiness from the Word of God and become a blessed person!
