Job 17:15 where then is my hope? Who will see my hope?16 Will it go down to the bars of Sheol? Shall we descend together into the dust?

In the midst of his suffering, Job cried out “Where is my hope, can anyone find it (NLT)”? Not only did his three friends not bring comfort to him but they also added more emotional pain on top of his physical suffering. The main battle for Job was his battle for hope. The best “medicine” for suffering is hope. Many Jews were able to survive in concentration camps because they had hope. Job 11:18 says that “you will feel secure, because there is hope”. But where is our hope? We cannot produce true hope; it can only come from God. “Find rest , O my soul, in  God alone; my hope  comes from him.” (Psalms 62:5) Even more deadly than coronavirus is hopelessness. A Chinese saying states that “There is no greater sorrow than a hopeless heart 哀莫大于心死”. We cannot find hope from the world. We can only find hope from the Source of hope. Let us pray today as Paul prayed: “May the God of hope fill [us] with all joy and peace in believing (the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 1:3), so that by the power of the Holy Spirit [we] may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13)
