Ezra 3:1 When the seventh month came, and the children of Israel were in the towns, the people gathered as one man to Jerusalem… 9 And Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, and Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together supervised the workmen in the house of God, along with the sons of Henadad and the Levites, their sons and brothers.

There were 42,360 (Ezra 2:64) plus their servants who went back to Jerusalem from Babylon to rebuild the temple. When they set their hearts on rebuilding the temple, they gathered as one man to go to Jerusalem. They knew their mission – to rebuild the temple. They followed their leader, Zerubbabel, and worked together in unity. Many of our children have left the church and even their faith because they have witnessed disunity in churches and have even experienced church splits. In a similar way, many of our children have lost hope to form their own families because around them are so many broken families. There is power in the unity achieved when Christians worship together with one heart and work together as one man. Let us not only be vigilant to maintain social distancing but also be “eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”. (Ephesians 4:3 ), When we “connect” to worship, to pray, and to fellowship as one man in the name of Jesus, God will be with us! (Matthew 18:20)
