2 Timothy 提 摩 太 後 書 1:2

2 To Timothy, my beloved child:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
寫信給我親愛的兒子提摩太.願恩惠憐憫平安、從父 神和我們主基督耶穌、歸與你。

How do you greet people in your mail/email/text? Paul doesn’t greet Timothy with material blessings but three very important spiritual blessings:

Grace 恩惠: Grace is what our holy God gives that we, as sinful people, don’t deserve. God gives us life, breath and salvation freely even we don’t deserve.

Mercy 憐憫: God gives us grace is out of His mercy toward us. Because mercy God also withhold what we do deserve. As sinners we deserve punishment but “God is patience with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

Peace 平安: Peace is the result when we restore our relationship with God through the salvation of Jesus. Peace is not just lack of anxiety but a confidence and strength in a trouble world.

All these three spiritual are not from the world but from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. May you receive grace, mercy and peace today!
